More from Israel

Yesterday we went to Independence Hall in Tel Aviv, where we learned how Israel became an independent state. It was kind of boring in some parts and cool in others.  Next we met with members of the Israeli Joint Distribution Committee. They provide help for people in need. Where we were, they were helping refugees from Eritrea and Sudan. Next we went to our hotel in East Jerusalem, and our view was the Dome of the Rock, which is a building that has a solid gold dome on top of it, and only Muslims can go in. Today we went to the Holocaust Museum. The Holocaust was in 1938 when Adolf Hitler killed millions of Jews in Europe I didn’t matter if they were children, women, or even babies. It was so terrible they would take them to concentration camps where they would be rounded up then killed 1 out of every 3 Jews were killed. The survivors were either dead or starving to death is was sad, disturbing, and scary. Next we met with a person that is in a refugee camp and they gave us terrible coffee, tea, and a chocolate bar that was like a kit kat. Now we are staying in Bethlehem.

  1. Luke,

I am enjoying your posts. What a great opportunity this is for you. We will be studying the Holocaust later this year in history so you will have some interesting information to share with the class.

We have had rain, snow and very frigid temperatures so we did not have class on Monday. Tomorrow is our first day of class for 2014. We will be praying for you and your dad. With love and prayers, Mrs. Lecklider
